“Now I will erase your Game Pak, because you had the need to hack!”
Gruntilda, Banjo-Kazooie

Grunty's Code Vengeance is when Grunty erases your game file because you entered too many "illegal cheats in Banjo-Kazooie. You may only enter a maximum of two illegal cheats in the Sandcastle floor. If you try to enter a third cheat, Bottles will gives you a heads up warning you that your save file will be deleted. Any cheat that involves opening a level or a note door without a puzzle or moving obstacles in Grunty's Lair is considered illegal. Cheats involving Stop 'n' Swop are not considered illegal and do not affect this.

Notice

When you see Grunty erase your file, it is not erased right away. Only when you save and quit or turn off the power does this effect apply. You can continue to play the game at your own leisure until you turn it off or reset it.

Trivia

  • If you choose to already have the basic moves at the beginning of the game as opposed to learning them from Bottles, then talking to him in Spiral Mountain repeatedly will cause him to threaten to erase your game pak. Unlike Grunty's Code Vengeance though, he will not do it. However, he will disable saving, so just reset the system.
